It all started with an idea. The marketing team at the SBU library was working on brainstorming ideas for upcoming events. Our last semester had involved game nights, a murder mystery, and an author showcase, all of which were fun and entertaining for students. However this year we were searching for an event that would not only draw students, staff, and faculty in but also place the library on the map of awesomeness! So I of course spent evenings feeding my pinterest addiction and searched for a new idea. Working late nights gives a person time to think, and I happened to stumble across an event idea that quickly became one of my greatest achievements ever! **Que Star Wars theme song** I proposed we host our first Library Comic Convention!
Now I myself have never been to a comic convention and the task seemed momentous but with help of the world wide web and some local comic fans I had a pretty good feeling I could pull this off. After getting the approval from my fellow marketing committee members we brought the idea before the staff meeting for approval. I am the youngest employee here at our branch, and pretty much the only one familiar with any fandom knowledge, so I knew that going into this would mean I was pretty much on my own. With some explaining of the basic premise the event and what all it would entail, the other staff decided on moving forward. This began my biggest library adventure yet..
